Hume was founded by Charu Jeevanandam — shaped by a life lived across cultures, across homes, across the experience of belonging somewhere and beginning again somewhere else.
That life gave her something most designers are never asked to develop: a personal understanding of what it means to feel at home. Not just comfortable. Not just well-designed. At home. Completely, honestly, and in every room.
From that understanding, a practice was built. One founded on a single refusal — to impose design over identity. To arrive with a signature and fit a life around it. Hume begins with the person. Their culture, their memory, the rhythms of how they live and who they are when no one is watching. The architecture follows from there. Always. Without exception.
The studio began as Olive Branch Interiors — a name that carried warmth and the promise of collaboration. It became Hume the way honest things evolve: naturally, inevitably. Not as a rebrand but as a clarification. A name that more precisely held what the practice had always believed — that a home, designed honestly, becomes a translation of the person living in it.
That belief has never changed. It became The Mirror Method. It is the reason Hume exists, and the standard every project is held to.
